Validation of Comprehensive Helicopter Aeroelastic Analysis with Experimental Data

    Get PDF
The experimental data for a Cbladed soft-inplane hingeless main rotor is used to validate a comprehensive aeroelastic analysis. A finite element model has been developed for the rotorblade which predicts rotating frequencies quite well, across a range of rotation speeds. The helicopter is trimmed and the predicted trim-control angles are found to be In the range ofmeasured values for a variety of flight speeds. Power predictions over a range of forward speeds also compare well. Finally, the aeroelastlc analysis is used to study the Importance ofaerodynamic models on the vibration predict~onU. nsteady aerodynamics and free-wake models have been investigated

Serbia - public sector accounting review : report on the enhancement of public sector financial reporting

    Get PDF
The government’s public financial management (PFM) Reform Program 2016-2020 foresees the gradual transition of public sector financial reporting from a cash basis to an accrual basis of accounting and the application of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). This will significantly improve the quality of financial information and should enable better informed decision-making, more efficient use of public funds and resources and improved fiscal performance. This Report on the Enhancement of Public Sector Financial Reporting is one output of the Serbia Public Sector Accounting Reform Technical Assistance project funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) through the Strengthening Accountability and Fiduciary Environment (SAFE) Trust Fund under the Public Sector Accounting and Reporting Program (PULSAR) which provides support for the development and implementation of public sector accounting standards. This report supports the development of a plan towards that goal by assessing the institutional framework for public sector accounting as well as the gap between Serbian public sector generally accepted accounting principles (PS GAAP) and IPSAS

Correlation of serology with morphological changes in gastric biopsy of H. pylori infection

Background: Helicobacter pylori is involved in many gastrodeudonal complications and many diagnostic tests are available for its identification. The present study was done with the objective to evaluate the morphological changes induced by H. pylori in the gastric mucosa and to correlate them with the severity of the infection. Methods: This study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital from July 2013 to June 2014. 60 patients with symptoms of dyspepsia and requiring an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy were included in the study. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy was performed on all patients. Hematoxylin and Eosin staining (H and E), modified Giemsa staining were performed on tissue sections and examined microscopically for gastritis and presence and absence of H. pylori. Results: Out of 60 patients, 33 were male and 27 were females. Serology by immunochromatography technique was positive in 41 patients. Serology was found to have a sensitivity and specificity of 90.90% and 59.25% respectively. H. pylori was positive in 28 cases on H and E. With a sensitivity and specificity of 84.84% and 100% respectively. H. pylori was positive in 33 cases on modified Giemsa with a sensitivity and specificity of 100%.Conclusions: Simultaneous morphologic and serological detection of H. pylori helps in its complete distribution and identification of its precancerous morphological nature

A Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Based Non-Linear Filters for Gas Turbine Prognostics

    Get PDF
The removal of noise from signals obtained through the health monitoring systems in gas turbines is an important consideration for accurate prognostics. Several filters have been designed and tested for this purpose, and their performance analysis has been conducted. Linear filters are inefficient in the removal of outliers and noise because they cause smoothening of the sharp features in the signal which can indicate the onset of a fault event. On the other hand, non-linear filters based on image processing methods can provide more precise results for gas turbine health signals. Among others, the weighted recursive median (WRM) filter has been shown to provide greater accuracy due to its weight adaptability depending on the signal type. However, sampling data at high rates is possible which needs hardware implementation of the filter. In this paper, the design, simulation and implementation of WRM filters on the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) platforms Vivado Design Suite by Xilinx and Quartus Pro Lite Edition 19.3 has been performed. The architectural detail and performance result with the FPGA filters when subjected to abrupt and gradual fault signal is presented

Finite Element Analysis of Free Vibration of the Delaminated Composite Plate with Variable Kinematic Multilayered Plate Elements

Composite laminates are prone to delamination. Implementation of delamination in the Carrera Unified Formulation frame work using nine noded quadrilateral MITC9 element is discussed in this article. MITC9 element is devoid of shear locking and membrane locking. Delaminated as well as healthy structure is analyzed for free mode vibration. The results from the present work are compared with the available experimental or/and research article or/and the three dimensional finite element simulations. The effect of different kinds and different percentages of area of delamination on the first three natural frequencies of the structure is discussed. The presence of open-mode delamination mode shape for large delaminations within the first three natural frequencies is discussed. Also, the switching of places between the second bending mode, with that of the first torsional mode frequency is discussed. Results obtained from different ordered theories are compared in the presence of delamination. Advantage of layerwise theories as compared to equivalent single layer theories for very large delaminations is stated. The effect of different kinds of delamination and their effect on the second bending and first torsional mode shape is discussed. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved

Deep phenotyping and genomic data from a nationally representative study on dementia in India

The Harmonized Diagnostic Assessment of Dementia for the Longitudinal Aging Study in India (LASI-DAD) is a nationally representative in-depth study of cognitive aging and dementia. We present a publicly available dataset of harmonized cognitive measures of 4,096 adults 60 years of age and older in India, collected across 18 states and union territories. Blood samples were obtained to carry out whole blood and serum-based assays. Results are included in a venous blood specimen datafile that can be linked to the Harmonized LASI-DAD dataset. A global screening array of 960 LASI-DAD respondents is also publicly available for download, in addition to neuroimaging data on 137 LASI-DAD participants. Altogether, these datasets provide comprehensive information on older adults in India that allow researchers to further understand risk factors associated with cognitive impairment and dementia.Peer reviewe
